Bernard T. Cotter has practiced civil litigation since 1960. He has vast experience in the courtroom, with more than 130 jury trials to verdict, as well as in binding and non-binding arbitration.

Mr. Cotter’s practice is mainly devoted to the litigation and trial of accident cases. Past representations include State Farm Insurance, the Progressive Insurance Company, and the California State Automobile Association.

Mr. Cotter is a Diplomate of the American Board of Trial Advocates. He was admitted to the United States Supreme Court in 1970. He is a San Mateo County Superior Court Judge Pro Tem and a finance board member of several nonprofit organizations.

Since 1996, Mr. Cotter has been the Editor of The Docket, the San Mateo County Bar magazine, and in 2007 the San Mateo County Trial Lawyers Association named him George M. Corey Trial Lawyer of the Year.

Mr. Cotter received his B.S. degree from the University of San Francisco and his law degree from the University of San Francisco School of Law.
